Biographical Info

Amol Mehta, MD, is a neurointerventionalist at 91̽»¨ specializing in the minimally invasive, endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular disorders including acute ischemic stroke, intracranial atherosclerotic disease, brain aneurysms, chronic subdural hematomas, and spinal compression fractures. He has expertise in mechanical thrombectomy, intracranial stenting, aneurysm embolization, middle meningeal artery embolization, endovascular management of arteriovenous malformations and dural arteriovenous fistulas, and vertebral augmentation for compression fractures.

Dr. Mehta earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism honor societies. He completed his neurology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, followed by fellowships in vascular neurology and neuroendovascular surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is board certified in both neurology and vascular neurology.

Dr. Mehta's research spans stroke thrombectomy techniques, intracranial atherosclerotic disease, health disparities in cerebrovascular care, and neurointerventional oncology. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications in journals including Stroke, Neurosurgery, AJNR, and the Journal of the American Heart Association, and has received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology. He serves on the editorial team of Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology.
